Forming the Work - Carbon and Earth

Forming the Work

Forming a piece of work internally is quite a process. Artist reading this may know exactly what I speak of. It's the building up of sound, curating contrasting colors, imagining the edges of a drawing that deserves to be emphasized.sitting a staring off gathering these delicious moments of insight, almost exploring and chiseling all facets of the concept. I find this internal burst of juicy excitement is the meat of creating. A place where it already exists within broad consciousness. A piece of art will linger, grow, evolve, and sometimes pass on by. An urge to paint fabric, shining and structured, fully seeing the cadmium red and bright turquoise. Changing out the turquoise for a deep ultramarine blue, seeing the two side by side, added in tassels... How would I handle the texture and grace of fine tassels of this fabric? How would I handle the atmosphere behind this pinned fabric? Muted olive green, distanced, or close to the viewer? This place is of wonder for visual artists and this realm is a place we long for when there's a sunken period.

I think of artists through time pondering their inspirations, mulling over all possibilities and variations. Watching the clock, or waiting for the sunrise to race to the studio to create the formed work that has taken a hold of its own energy. A common thread that unites artists of all kinds
