A New Chapter in Providence

A New Chapter in Providence

A huge pivot has happened, a kin to a conception. I sit in my new studio, looking out at the same sky, different birds. I hear new sounds and watch the light trace through these old windows, excited to see the path alter each day. This change does not come from the date of January first, but a choice of the path I know I must take. The path is crystal clear, from the horizon up. Not knowing the next steps ahead, only what would unfold from present singular choices. This brings me to my shadow self. The shadow self many of you have read about in my previous, journal-like blog posts. The deep fears and uncertainty that our evolved selves muster up are misguided, asking to be processed. One sees the inner world reflected all around within the stillness of solitude. Reflected in the meals, the wavering motivation, and the filtering of the sounds of arguing neighbors below. There is no distraction, no familiar soft landing for the unconscious to stay hidden. I find the artists soul incredible. I feel the threads of seeing, linked to others before me and after me. It's a pocket of awareness like a remote island only a few know of, capable of the darkest storms, and biggest ocean swells; a paradise uninhabited and untouched by the lower realms of existence.

I'd like to somehow mention the redirection of interest of my work. My mind and soul expanded with figurative work several years ago. Being invited into an Atelier setting, my path shifted, and my heart knew. I have moved to Providence Rhode Island to continue this path of expansion as well as to commit to the creative energy that calls me. You may see fewer bowls, mugs, and housewares. Carbon and Earth will evolve into more of a studio with independent class sessions, workshops, and figure nights.

These are my visions for C&E studio:

Consistent commissions and sales of my drawings and sculptures

Gallery exhibitions and group shows

Connections of likeminded artists and students

4-5 students weekly who show up and are excited to explore

If you are interested in a studio session, I offer in-studio and virtual classes. These sessions are for anyone of any creative capability, for any age. These classes are great for building foundational drawing and sculptural skills and extra training for pre-collegiate and current college students. Plus college students receive a 20% discount.

Much Love,

Gabrielle
